“You cannot help but learn more as you take the world into your hands. Take it up reverently, for it is an old piece of clay, with millions of thumbprints on it.”
--- John Updike
Membership is being part of a community of people working to develop and expand their ceramic practice. A membership fee is $150 a month. Membership will entitle you to all day, everyday access to the semi-private studio. Members each have a 4' x 18" unit with five shelves of storage. The studio equipment available for use are Shimpo Wheels, an extruder, slab roller, three handbuilding tables, canvas ware-boards. The cost of kiln firings is not included in a Membership; however members are given a reduced rate of $.05 cents per square inch per firing.
Members are responsible for their own materials, tools and glazes. Being a member of the SJCC doesn't guarantee increased access to kilns and kiln firings.
Membership is not a suitable venue for professional or retail ceramic production.
This is a community space designed to foster creative growth, wellness and a sense of belonging.
We accept all skill level or experience provided you understand safe use of the equipment.
SJCC operates on a foundation of mutual respect and support for building your creative craft.
